2006 markiert das fünfte Jubiläum von Switchstance Recordings, dem bekannten deutschen "Label for all things funky and dope". Fünf Jahre Switchstance, das bedeutet fünf Jahre ständiger Produktion, DJing, Promotion und Herausbringen schöner Platten, durch die aufgewühlten Wasser des internationalen post-2000er Musikgeschäfts geführt von Labelgründer und Geschäftsführer Tom Strauch, seinem Partner und Label Manager Bernd "Kinski" Roesler und ihren langjährigen Produzenten, DJs, Networkern und, nicht zuletzt, Freunden.
Fünf Jahre Switchstance bedeutet auch THE NEXT CHAPTER in der FANTASTIC FREERIDING Reihe, der label-eigenen Showcase-Alben, die ihren festen Platz in den Kisten einiger der beliebtesten HipHop, Downtempo, Broken Beat und NuJazz DJs und Produzenten gefunden haben - was sich mit dem vorliegenden Album FANTASTIC FREERIDING - THE NEXT CHAPTER zweifellos fortsetzen wird.

Ebenfalls auf FANTASTIC FREERIDING - THE NEXT CHAPTER zu finden sind zwei Kollaborationen, die ganz bestimmt ein paar Zeilen und näheres Hinhören wert sind: Mit NAKED bieten DEELA einen berührenden Song - in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Sängerin INGA LUEHNING, die sich neben den zahlreichen Auftritten und Veröffentlichungen ihres Jazz-Pop Quartetts "Lühning", auch durch ihre Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jazz Projekt RE:JAZZ (InfraCom!), den Deep Housern von NEEDS und als Background Sängerin der FANTA 4 einen Namen machen konnte. Ihr zweites Album, zwischen Elektronik und Jazz angesiedelt, steht 2006 ebenfalls an. Auf EASTERN von PROTASSOV & KINSKI ist eine echte Legende zu hören: VICTOR BROX mit seinem melancholischen M.F. Horn. Er wird von vielen Seiten als einer der größten Blues-Sänger und Performer unserer Tage bezeichnet und hat in seiner lebenslangen Karriere mit großen Namen wie Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Alexis Korner, Screaming Lord Sutch, Stevie Wonder und Keith Moon gearbeitet!
FANTASTIC FREERIDING - THE NEXT CHAPTER folgt der Tradition, auf jedem Album einen vielversprechenden Grafik-Künstler vorzustellen. Diesmal kommt das Artwork vom Hamburger STOHEAD, der den Raum-und-Zeit-erweiternden Effekt des Albums auf ganz eigene Weise darstellt.
Dem Anlaß des fünften Jubiläums von Switchstance angemessen, wird FANTASTIC FREERIDING - THE NEXT CHAPTER als CD im sechs-seitigen Digipak mit massivem 12-Seiten-Booklet und Doppel-Vinyl im Klappcover erscheinen.

Somehow Switchstance has managed to surpass even their own high standards with this latest crop.Chunky beats blunted to perfection and gorgeous production details have come to define the Switchstance Sound. This isa very solid release packed with winning tracks. I've got piles of music to get through, but I've listened to this one 3 times through on the first day it arrived.

More than a retrospective of where the label's been over the past five years, Fantastic Freeriding: the next chapter serves as the prequel to where this stylistically diverse and often slept-on label is headed. Fans of Turntables On The Hudson's famed NYC parties, Quantic's dusty offerings and the classic Grand Central / Mo' Wax / Ninja Tune releases of the 90's will all find something hearty and fun on this release.
